Vodafone has announced a number of locations earmarked for roll-out of 4G-based mobile broadband connectivity.

The 4G service is already available in 233 locations across the UK.

The latest locations selected for 4G deployments include, among others, Brighton, Hove and Hastings (East & West Sussex), Oldham, Swinton and Stockport (Greater Manchester), Watford, Hatfield and Hemel Hempstead (Hertfordshire), Tower Hamlets, Camden and Hackney (London), Maidstone, Folkestone and Tunbridge Wells (Kent), Staines, Epsom and Ewell (Surrey), Jarrow, Gateshead and Sunderland (Tyne & Wear), West Bromwich, Stourbridge and Dudley (West Midlands) and Huddersfield, Pontefract and Wakefield (West Yorkshire).

The company invested £804m in the acquisition of 2.6GHz and 800MHz radio spectrum bands for its 4G LTE network. It will spend a further £1bn upgrading its national network this year.

A spokesperson for Vodafone stated ‘In the last few months, we have started to expand our ultra-fast 4G coverage to 233 cities, towns and districts across the UK.’

‘Rollout of our 4G services is part of more than £1bn we are spending on our network and services across the country this year. We are commitment to providing indoor and outdoor coverage using 2G, 3G and 4G services to 98% of the UK population by the end of 2015.
